Shining in Space is a children’s concert programme booklet designed for Esplanade’s March On 2024 festival. The project combines illustration, layout and interactive content to introduce young audiences to orchestral music through storytelling, imagination and play.
The design draws from a dreamy, cosmic visual language to reflect the show’s themes of memory, friendship and exploration. Illustrated characters, expressive typography and layered textures create an immersive reading experience, while clear hierarchy and structured layouts ensure accessibility for both children and caregivers.
Interactive elements such as drawing activities, cut-outs and QR-linked music listening guides were integrated to extend engagement beyond the performance. The final outcome is a cohesive, child-friendly publication that supports learning, curiosity and emotional connection to music and the arts.
